not sure why you would say this? Yes, they are not electric, but they use much less gas. What's the downside?

When they are in gas mode they aren’t efficient because they are pulling the extra weight of the EV drive train and when they are in EV mode they are carrying the weight of the gas drive train.

Also mechanics and dealerships don’t like to work on them and charge more because of that.

This is just not true! How do you thiink they get the overall higher gas mileage? It's like saying an electric car isn't efficient because it's carrying around batteries.

The situation with mechanics may vary depending on where you live, but I have found it's not a problem.
