Users who want to spout and send DMs must verify their phone number first. It's a safeguard to protect our users from abuse, targeted harassment, and the toxic garbage we see on other platforms. Users who are not comfortable verifying their number can use one of the many other Twitter alternatives.

A great policy. Have had only one spam message and it was quickly resolved after a report was made.

Thank you! I have no problem verifying my phone number because I have no intention of abusing, harassing or targeting anyone! See how easy it is.

A Hungarian friend has tried repeatedly over the past month or so to get his number verified. He never receives the code. He filed a ticket but got no response. I filed one on his behalf as well and got no response. He'd really like to join us!
