I’m rarely at a loss for words. But the Hamas atrocities—particularly the discovery of decapitated babies—leaves me struggling to measure its meaning. How can humans be that barbaric? How can their hatred run that deep? How has civilization failed us this profoundly?

Not sure why so many are focusing on decapitated babies. It’s bad enough without them. Obviously there was horror and sadism involved. Details will eventually be verified if anyone can bear to hear them.

It was painful to hear the stories yesterday on the news and read the barbaric reports from the victims. I wept & felt their grief & despair. Absolutely horrific and disparaging trauma. 💔

That's what 75 years of having your homes and lands taken away will do. You can't squeeze the entire population of Palestine into a tiny space and not expect an explosion.

Sadly, savagery appears baked into human nature, i.e. “Dear America: You are waking up, as Germany once did, to the awareness that 1/3 of your people would kill another 1/3, while 1/3 watches." Not a real Herzog quote, but too true nevertheless, in the US and beyond.

That is my problem as well. I know the Palestinians have grievances but Hamas has gone way beyond the pale. Completely and always unacceptable.

"Of course he has a knife, he always has a knife, we all have knives! It's 1183 and we're barbarians! How clear we make it. Oh, my piglets, we are the origins of war: not history's forces, nor the times, nor justice, nor the lack of it, nor causes, nor religions, nor ideas, nor kinds

of government, nor any other thing. We are the killers. We breed wars. We carry it like syphilis inside. Dead bodies rot in field and stream because the living ones are rotten. For the love of God, can't we love one

All true. But atrocities of the past shouldn’t numb us from atrocities now.

It’s confirmed that there are dead babies and that people were beheaded. Does whether or not the babies died by beheading change the barbarism of Hamas? Does it negate this atrocity?

I’ve seen a lot of foreign press about it, but almost nothing in American MSM. Israeli government is silent. An awful lot of smoke. Fervently hoping there is no fire.
