One of the GOP's dirty tricks is noncontiguous districts: "55 of 99 Assembly districts and 21 of 33 Senate districts, are noncontiguous, creating legislative 'islands.'"

That could be fairer, but a problem is that politicians draw boundaries that benefit them & their party. That's the point of citizen-led redistricting: let the public choose districts for the common good, not politicians to get power or a safe seat.

I don't know why we don't require a simple grid overlay of the state with denser population areas being smaller squares, less populated much larger. I realize state lines are not straight but we should figure it out because this is getting tiresome and requires too much maintenance and litigation
