Every state chooses presidential electors using First Past the Post voting. Highest vote count wins even if only a plurality.
If House used same rules then Hakeem Jeffries would be Speaker. He beat McCarthy in January, 212-203, and Jordan in October, 212-200.

The other issue are "games:" lowering the threshold by voting present etc. Is there any real benefit to preserving this gamesmanship?

With RiNO, Dino, & Santos (es) who don't really know what party they rep, just having a plurality determine the speakership can eliminate much of these problems.

I like this idea. The problems the Reps have is they really don't have a majority and the crack is so large between FreedomCaucus/JordanCaucus and McCarthy caucus that they cannot bridge the gap w/ 1 ldr = 3 parties exists blue/orange (90), yellow (126) and Dems (212) meaning Dems are the majority.
