A Clockwork Orange is a phenomenal movie because it shows us Alex's brutality in full & at no point does it argue Alex is good for society or should even have the privilege of walking around freely, but successfully implicates his moral superiors for the savagery they enact upon him without mercy.

All you judges, doctors, lawyers & scientists don't have to acknowledge the nastiness of what you do because you call it a profession, & in a time where "They're using human shields!" is best followed by "Why're you shooting the human shields?" it exposes their sacrosanct hypocrisy.

What about you?

We already know he's bad. We have already seen the things he has done. There's no question in our minds whether or not this person deserves punishment for his crimes, but the question that lingers is how that punishment's enacted & what its effects are on the body politic, i.e. & ESPECIALLY ... YOU.

"He bombed a hospital, so we bombed twelve" doesn't exactly speak to your moral superiority, does it now?

You can continue in telling us how awful he is, but the truth is that however bloodily grotesque he is, you can't escape what you are, & apparently have many fewer apparatuses to identify it.

That's why it's a good movie.

This, on the other hand, is a horror flick.
