That's the reason why n Germany we have laws which limit the exposure to noise. Especially relevant are DIN18005 Lãrmschutz im Städtebau and BImschV

It makes sense. I've seen many European countries pass similar laws, but here in the USA we are struggling to enact anything similar. I hope that as more people learn about these issues that something good can come of it.

We had this discussion about 30 years ago. But the medical evidence was overwhelming. It begot something very German, the Bundes-Immissionsschutzverordnung (BImschV) . It got several updates since it was first released and covers almost everything that is capable of making noise.
