I have a routine when applying to jobs. I email myself the JD and place that and any other emails in a specific folder in my email. So for every job, there's at least two emails - the JD and confirmation that's typically sent to candidates after applying.

Less than 50% of the time I'll get a follow-up email, which is mostly a rejection, from the company. Those emails go in that folder as well.

Since I don't track the number of apps I submit, something told me to look at my folder and see how many emails are there. Since I was laid off at the end of July, I have 1600 emails in that inbox.

Yes, you read that correctly.

So let's say 10% of that is misc communications that I've saved that I thought I may need later. Then let's say another 35% are rejections. If the remaining are an even 50/50 split of JD and confirmations, how many jobs have I applied to?

Rounding up to the nearest hundredth, that's 500. That sounds pretty accurate.

I could segue into how racism, sexism, and ageism come into play because it does. But I honestly don't have the spoons right now.

In response to Timara (she/her).
That’s a ton of applications, and extremely jacked up, I’m sorry, which I know doesn’t help.
