Hey Democrats, don’t be tempted by Dean Phillips’ childish presidential run to vent all your fears about Biden running for a second term. Here’s why:

1. Biden has done nothing to show he can’t do the job. On the contrary, IMHO he’s been the best president in my lifetime (look up the numbers, it’s true). Until he proves he cannot do the job, stop freaking out and planning for things that may never happen.

2. Polls mean nothing right now. Obama was polling similar to Biden at this point in his first term and he won a second term handily against a far better opponent than what MAGA is putting up (make no mistake, there is no GOP any more; it’s all MAGA). Polls are snapshots, not predictions.

3. Phillips is helping Trump and MAGA win next year. Plain and simple. Any attention (or money) you give his pointless effort only makes a MAGA victory more likely.

4. Trump will not be the nominee. But any of the other candidates are just as dangerous because, again, there is no Republican Party anymore. It’s MAGA.

5. Next year’s election is about one thing. Democracy or not. Without democracy, the economy, abortion rights, climate change, taxes, gun safety, or any other issue you care about no longer matters because you no longer have a choice. MAGA has picked its side (hint: it’s not democracy).

They want to rule, not represent. To restore a functional, conservative party to our politics, MAGA needs to suffer a devastating loss next year.

So, if you are spending your energy fretting over what might be, stop being part of the problem and start working to elect Democrats in every election - including President Joe Biden.
