Once you become a public figure it's very hard to control what parts of your life remain private.

But when something awful happens and it's actually still private, you start to feel guilty for not using your platform to talk about it because raising awareness could help others.

In response to Rebekah Jones.
And so you beat yourself up over not speaking out about a private issue because you feel a duty to help others and start a conversation... but you also want to protect those you love... there's no winning no matter what you do.

That's where I've been since last Wednesday.

Your first priority is to protect your family. However when things are settled and it's safe for you to do so, you can then discuss what happened and be able to tell how you handled it. That is using your platform and bringing information that you have gained through your experience. 🙏
