#DailyPictureTheme Our apiary when we were beekeepers. The larger, bottom #boxes are where the honeybees raised their young & stored honey for the winter. The top, smaller #boxes are called supers & that's where the surplus honey that we harvested was stored.

Wow! Impressive. We never had more than 2 hives of bees.

At one point, we had hives in 3 separate locations, but the majority of them were in our yard! We started out with two, and over the years we just kept taking on more!

Wow! That's amazing! Honeybees are fascinating to watch. He did get them to survive one winter, and then they swarmed a couple of times that next summer, both times when I was here alone- scary and cool at the same time.

Once, he put the supers full of honey in the garage overnight, not knowing he had the queen in there. I was painting the side doors to the garage that day, and more and more bees kept gathering on the bag with the supers in it. That was crazy! Thousands of them all over!
