The schools were here and there across the US and Canada. We met a Canadian who prayed for us in native dialect. As a child he was taken to a residential school. He talked of his times. We visited Saint Eugene School which is well preserved. Children’s photos lined the walls. Sobering truth

There is too much deep ignorance about Indian boarding schools/residential schools. Too many ancestors suffered. The intergenerational trauma still echoes in so many families. It's hopeful to see the listening tours and acknowledgement happening, but the work has only just begun.
