Perhaps the most important problem on my mind is that, while as many as 40 percent or more of Americans may be authoritarian populists who welcome a dictator, who want white 'Christian' nationalism to prevail, that degree of democracy which we enjoy here is at serious risk in next year's election.

The solution to most problems in America is simple: stop letting the GOP win elections.

The rich are vastly outnumbered. All we have to do is vote even when we think we can let it slide, and they'll get wiped from government, which can govern again.

I agree. There is a high probability of voting among those, we, who recognize the current political threat. This is individual behavior, atomistically necessary.
And it might readily be seen as sufficient, if not for:
-the electoral college
-gerrymandering
-voter suppression of many kinds
-apathy
