Unfortunately, it’s looking like Biden’s student debt cancellation EO is in peril. My guess is that SCOTUS will determine it needs to go to congress, where it most certainly won’t pass the house.

My question is, will ‘forgive student loans!’ progressives learn a civics lesson?

Democrats win either way. If debt relief is allowed, Biden gets a boost from a promise kept. If SCOTUS says no. Biden gets a boost from blaming right wingers on scotus and in congress.

Politically it’s a potential win, unless progressives somehow retreat back to ‘same old status quo yadda yadda’, which is entirely possible as they don’t seem to take basic civics into consideration.

Also, it’s a win… except for this who have student loan debt.

True. It would be bad for those who have student debt.

It's a big issue. I'm still paying for my daughter's student loans. We paid half for our three children for college. She is 30 now, that's how long it's taken. We got the boys paid off - they are 33.. But clearly, we would be much better off if this money was going to retirement. We are not alone.
