Today, Iowa Republicans proposed a bill banning gay marriage after 14 years of equality. We've got 48 hours to stop this bill to make sure it doesn't come to a vote in the Iowa House.

We thought about that with Roe...the GOP made clear they're targeting all of the progress going back to Brown v Board of Education.

I wonder how much the #scotus is willing to give up in terms of killing progressive policies that previous Courts have upheld.

For instance, is Clarence Thomas willing to make his OWN marriage illegal by rolling back Loving v. Virginia?

This regressive Court is an abomination.

So was Roe.

If the right to gay marriage comes before the current SCOTUS, it will likely lose in a 5/4 or 6/3 vote.

This SCOTUS is highly likely to overturn Obergefell. This is part of the strategy to get it back before SCOTUS for review.

Also...The Respect for Marriage Act signed by Biden offers some protections for same-sex marriage & interracial marriage in the event that SCOTUS overturns Obergefell v. Hodges & Loving v. Virginia, but it does not codify Obergefell into federal law so RMA protections would be limited in comparison.
