The pictures are from Svalbard - part of Norway and next to The Artic. Often used as starting and/or ending points for Pole exhibitions.

Svalbard is a bit special, but Norway has the sovereignty there, but Russia has claim a small town where 200 people are settled there (I think). But the town Longyearbyen has about 2000 people. In addition, the small island Jan Mayen and Bear Island is Norwegian.
