105 years ago, at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month the guns fell silent. The Great War was over. Millions lay dead across the globe. Countries were shattered and reformed under new names and governments. Every part of the globe was touched by death and destruction.

When the Great Depression occurred ten years later Germany was plunged deeper into despair than most because of the the harsh and seemingly impossible terms of the treaty.

History influences our present which, in turn, influences our future. If the terms of peace in 1919 had not been so harsh we may not have seen the rise of evil in Germany which may have saved the lives of countless millions.

The 20th Century would have turned out very differently.
We will never truly know what would have happened but there are lessons to be learned even 100 years later. Pay attention to our present.

Pay attention to what has happened in the past if you want to understand the present and see where the future is going. And, most of all, stay as magnanimous in victory as you are humbled in defeat.
Thank you to all who have served our country. Your sacrifice can never truly be repaid.
