We’re peeking into a nursery of baby stars in the Orion Nebula, in this color composite from #NASAWebb . The bright pink-and-purple area is a cavity being sculpted by hot stars in the center of a molecular cloud. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA.

$A young star-forming region is filled with wispy purple, green, and red layers of gas and dust. A cavity filled with purple ionized gas is seen toward the center, and in the very center cavity is a brighter white and pink in an irregular oval shape. There are browns, greens, and reds behind the purple region. To the right, at the periphery, is denser gas and dust in shades of bright green and darker brown. There is a large spray of yellow, orange, red, and purple toward the top center, and the nebula fades to near black to the right. There are thousands of stars sprinkled across the field, concentrated toward the center, but they generally appear fainter. The brightest sources in the field have extensive eight-pointed diffraction spikes that are characteristic of the Webb Telescope.$
