It seems important to discover if #H5N1 has mutated to be better at infecting mammals OR if more mammals are being infected simply because more birds are currently sick. But, don’t worry, I’m sure… the public health sector is all over this.

Waiting until a pandemic is not a solution.

There seems to be an significant emphasis put on avoiding panic, which I used to think was dumb, but based on Covid, I have concerns that public health will really only get a week or two of endurance to convince everyone something is serious. Society is slacking.

I sense sarcasm here. I don’t have much faith in the Public
health model to be on top of anything at this point.
But I agree with you, it’s important to understand if it’s just volume causing this, because if it’s mutation we could be in for some big trouble in the near future.

Ha. Yes. I have lost much faith in public health. I assume we still have some time, I hope, but it seems like we should be doing more to prevent another pandemic.
