Holding the mirror up would be good. In 2019 the US death rate for men was 846 per 100K. If we use that number for Russia (143.4M people, 46% men, 66.5M men) that would be 1541 men dying per day. While not in a war. Some of the men who die in war would have died anyway so ... 1/2

... we don't know how much this "looks" like to the population in general. I agree with you that it seems incredible the population puts up with it or buys the idea that Ukraine shouldn't exist. It can't go on forever, WW II proved that.
