Over the next several days I will document my experiences as an exhausted person in education navigating their Thanksgiving break. Your patience and tolerance are appreciated.

Thanksgiving Break: Day 1

I have woken up at 7:30am. This stings. This would make me severely late on a work day, but is still just early enough to make me groan in frustration. I want coffee, but what I want more is to stop talking myself out of setting up auto brew for mornings like this.

At some point after my shower I got back into bed. I chose more sleep and eked out another hour. For me, this doesn’t feel like vacation yet because it’s the weekend. It will take a few days for that to sink in. Right now it feels like I should be doing something important but I haven’t started.

Cleaning is in full swing. So much of it gets pushed to the weekend and I feel better when my place is clean. Breaks like this are the best window I have to take care of things I’ve had to put off. Luckily, I took care of my flu and COVID vaccines already. Make some time for yours if haven’t!

Thanksgiving break Day 2:

Cleaned a lot yesterday and feel asleep at 2am. Got a solid 7 hours of sleep!

It occurs to me I need to pick up some more wine today. Today’s agenda is fluid except for that. It feels like a Sunday with no stress of work hanging over it. This is how they should all feel.

Visited a pumpkin patch today, and now I’m winding down with some TV. More updates tomorrow. Goodnight!

Woke up early today. Expecting maintenance on the water heater. Currently under a heated blanket, having coffee, and enjoying one of the best Dutch creations ever. Absolutely not the worst start to a Monday.

I have quite literally done nothing today. No errands. No cleaning. No cooking. No store runs. Nothing. It’s been amazing. 10/10 would recommend. However, not doing anything makes me feel guilty because I don’t feel productive. Maybe that’s a me thing. Imperfect experience, one point deducted. 9/10.

Last night I had decided to spout something, didn’t, and fell asleep. When I checked my phone this morning the New Spout field was still open and blank. My bed had me in a chokehold 😅

I have spent the day spouting and Christmas shopping on Amazon. This is what peak human activity looks like in 2023.

Wine and cheez-its are gone, but they enhanced the evening. I’m yawning multiple times a minute so I know what time it is. Goodnight!

Cold morning here (by Texas standards) but I’m making a quick hop across the border into Mexico. Please grant me patience for the checkpoint wait time

Apologies, this fell apart because my last few days were so busy. Thanksgiving was great! Got to spend some great time with my mom and all the food was incredible.

In response to JR.
Patience? I work in higher ed and I’ve busted out the popcorn 🍿 for your thread. Thinking about joining in but my “break” hasn’t started yet so I have time to decide.
