I’m going to reduce my possessions, a process the Swedish call döstädning.

I’d like some ideas on how to give away my hardback books. Giving them to a library is fine, but they’ll just end up languishing on a sale rack.

I’d prefer to get them into the hands of people who would like them, preferably folks of limited means.

I've been in the process of "death cleaning" for some time now. The library here was extremely selective with books & the donation process there was not worth the effort. The easier thing to do was to donate them to Goodwill. Other possessions (jewelry) of value I sell at a great consignment shop.

I might find an art school to give art books to. (The one I went to closed down after 151 years.) I offloaded some rare books I inherited to a teacher of history who is an avid collector. I’ve also got some inherited artworks on consignment in a gallery. It’s hard to find new homes for these items.
