Been thinking about VH lately and how incredible the first record was. That sound right at the start of the first track, almost like an on-coming train whistle....and then the bass....and then....that guitar....man... and then the voice. VH announced its presence with authority. Great record.

It's an unmistakable sound, and I agree with you that it is such a great LP

And think about the time that it first came out. 1978. Disco was everywhere. Punk and glam rock were on the rise. The "guitar heroes" of the late 60s and early 70s were either gone or had become almost comical caricatures of themselves. Rock music wasn't exactly in its best place. And here comes VH.

Indeed, they helped pave the way into the 80s, when some other great Rock bands flourished or took back their rock and roll essence. It was also a generational shift and a huge one at that.

Agreed. Not to be too dramatic but that unknown 4 piece rock band changed everything, or brought it all back. And that debut record still stands today as a great rock album. 45 years later.
