It might BURN in a clean way (no CO2), but it's not renewable and extraction is also not clean at all. This is no source of clean energy and we should leave it be

Count for what though? Sure, there should be no direct waste created, that's a plus (leaving only the installations after they are dismantled and pollution during the building of them) but they do need some fuel that has to be extracted. It'll depend on how they compare to renewables when available

But so far, Fusion is still something that we hope to achieve (with stably more output than getting it going and running the whole installation) in the next decade or so, and another 20-30 years to actually deploy?

yes, it's a step forward. Still quite a few steps to go before we get anything stable and longer before we get more overall output than goes into the process though.
As you probably know, the "more energy out than went in" is only the DIRECT imput, not the whole installation.
