'CNET is laying off roughly 10 percent of its editorial staff – around a dozen people, including long-time veterans of the media and reviews website – just weeks after acknowledging it has started using artificial intelligence programs to write certain articles, the Verge reported Thursday.'

60 Minutes had a segment on AI and I couldn't believe how many false "facts" were written by AI. I believe they focused mainly on bing. They even got Leslie Stahl wrong and she was the interviewer. This is not good.

This is a dangerous precident, considering how boldly incorrect and bias AI has become. Would genuinely rather have real people writing the stories. They can held accountable for lies and give us perspective about the stories they follow.

As i only use CNET for reviews, will AI be able to do a fair review of any device that can produce it? or is it limited due to cancel culture?

The advancement of human knowledge will stall with AI. AI can only parrot back what is available to them. It doesn't create anything new, it only mimics.

And this is why they should absolutely not be using AI to write articles.

No one, at least in the US, seems to be planning for all the ways in which AI goes horribly wrong. From ethically, to physically dangerously. ChatGPT’s guy just irresponsibly shrugs, welp, I dunno…

*Just because we can doesn’t mean we should*—ESP w/o reviewing possible FORESEEABLE consequences!
