This seems like a very unfair way to treat this young lady. This makes no sense to me. Surely there was a better way for the school to handle this.

All she had to do was tell a teacher to maintain school safety without inciting panic and worries.

This punishment is too severe, for sure, But texting friends about crazy rumors is not reporting it or speaking out, it's teenagers swapping crazy texts, Schools have to maintain a balance.

We agree that she should have reported it to a teacher. However, that was a teachable moment. The punishment is severe and totally unnecessary.

That depends on the context; if she had a spotless record and no issues, I would support the suspension then get her back in class on the right path.

Since I don't know this kid, no comment. I have seen kids sent to other campuses for serious behavior issues. The story doesn't tell us here.
