For many years in therapy I was convinced I'd die at 64. Not sure why; my dad died of lymphoma at 68 but my mom made it to 92. I turned 65 in September and don't really expect to see 75, but anything's possible, though I don't want to end up in a nursing home …

Not fucking once have I wanted to live to an old age. 70 or 80 sounds like a fucking nightmare.

Like millions, I have an illness that will shorten my lifespan—it just sounds more dramatic in my case 'cause it's depression and I'll likely die by suicide, but no time soon, I've had ideations but not now. I'm not a happy person but there's people and stuff I love and some things I'd like to do.
