$500 for a furnished studio sublet in Greenwich Village, NYC. Corner of Waverly and Christopher St. I had a rear apt, the view looked liked a scene from Hitchcock’s Rear Window. I worked at an advertising firm on Madison Ave. 1984-1985. It was a very good year.

Bethesda, Maryland 1988, walking distance to two metro stations (and my dad's restaurant!) it was a total shit-box, but the rent was $550 a month for a 1BR/1BA and included everything but electric - I shared with my then boyfriend 🙂

I split a 2bdr apt that was $844. So I paid $422/month. My first apt when I lived alone was 1bdr and it was $655. These were 20th century rents LOL
