The problem with putting any ethical rules on SCOTUS, or any limitations, is... what's to stop SCOTUS from simply ruling any limitations on itself unconstitutional? Its not like the conservative majority hasn't already proven willing to disregard law and precedent to get what they want.

Well first any code of conduct would need SCOTUS to be supportive of it. And it’s not a law per se, but rather canons that guide ethical behavior —a collective acknowledgment that certain standards should be followed. Here’s a good article for background https://sgp.fas.org/crs/mi...
