I suspect the administration will become increasingly critical of the Netanyahu regime (as they already have to some extent). Biden usually prefers working across the isle and making deals to public confrontation, but when its clear the other side isn't dealing in good faith, the gloves can come off

My question then is how many more lives have to be needlessly sacrificed before 'the gloves can come off?' He had an opportunity to change direction at the UN but sent his man to vote against it. I don't see the compassionate Joe that many love to talk about...

1/2 This overlooks his efforts to prevent escalation, establish the previous temporary ceasefire/aid/hostage exchanges, and his support for a two state solution and opposition to violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

2/2 One may fairly criticize his words at times, or the effectiveness of trying to influence Netanyahu as an ally rather than an adversary. But the image of Biden as indifferent to the slaughter in Gaza is a false one, produced by Putinists, Hamas apologists, and the "useful idiot" wing of the Left.

I don't think it helped his cause - if he had one - to go to Israel and declare himself a Zionist - with all it's political ramifications. By the way I am neither a 'Putinist, Hamas apologist - who by the way were initially funded by Israel to thwart a two state solution - or whatever else you said

1/2 As I said, I think Biden (among other things) felt he could exercise more influence over Netanyahu as an ally than an enemy. Regardless, you have now shifted the topic, from whether Biden supports a ceasefire, to whether he supports Zionism (that is, the existence of a state of Israel).

2/2 And. yes, Biden believes that Israel has a right to exist (the basic goal of Zionism). If that is your objection, I doubt any action he is likely to take will satisfy you, but that is not the same as his supporting every atrocity committed by the Netanyahu regime.

No, ZIONISM as an entity is a whole other discussion. My concern is that the so-called leader of the free world -Joe Biden, in the midst of a crisis hitched his wagon to one side, sending massive armaments that have enabled the killing of over 17000 mainly women and children. His influence so far...

1/2 You specifically criticized Biden for saying he was a Zionist. Now you say Zionism isn't the issue, when I point out that you are effectively condemning him for supporting Israel's existence. Shift, shift, shift the goal posts.

As to Biden's "influence", it was a major reason why the temporary

2/2 ceasefire and resulting aid and hostage releases happened. Biden also supports a two-state solution. All of this is ignored, though, as people push a narrative designed to keep progressives home or "protest voting" in 2024.

You think Gaza will fair better if President Muslim Ban gets back in?
