My pick of a Christmas movie: The Lion In Winter (1968). It's Christmas 1183 and King Henry II (Peter O'Toole) and his captive wife Eleanor of Aquitaine (Oscar-winning Katherine Hepburn) have to deal with the consequences of a long life's mistakes.

It's my Christmas favorite, too. Brilliant performances by all. And the dialogue!

"What shall we hang, the holly or each other?"

John: My God, if I went up in flames, there’s not a living soul who’d pee on me to put the fire out.
Geoffrey: Let's strike a flint and see.

Actually, that last was Richard (Sir Anthony Hopkins' film debut). A couple more:

Eleanor: Love in a world where carpenters are resurrected? Anything is possible.

Richard: When the fall is all, it matters.

Yes, that was indeed Richard. My bad. This next one's Geoffrey to John: "If you're a prince, there's hope for every ape in Africa."
