When I was a mechanic, I was installing a battery (something I'd done 100s of times) and accidentally closed the circuit with my wrench. Reflexively, I threw my wrench into the air, then went to pick it up and burned my hand. I kept that wrench with its melted tip as a reminder. That was only 12V.

Yes, I am aware, but the voltage makes a difference. A 12 volt car battery is unlikely to deliver more than 12 mA to a human body where as a 120 volt outlet can deliver up to 120 mA through the same resistance (Human body).
