1 of 5 of my cohort didn't survive high school
Whoa! @Whoa
My friends and I did our share of stupid shit when we were younger, too. We're extremely fortunate that none of us were ever seriously injured.

Oh, sorry, I think I misinterpreted that. Do you mean in your friend group? Or 20% of your class?

Nope! Mostly car crashes killing 4+, suicide, work accidents because rural-ish, and having parents that sucked and occasionally killed you

😮 that’s cray. Many car crashes in my k-12 cohort but none fatal until out of HS, one friend was paralyzed in a car crash our senior year. After HS, all hell broke loose.

I grew up in SLC. Wyoming and Nevada, a mere 1.5 hours away on dark desert highways, beckoned with strong beer, brothels, and 18+ hard liquor and fireworks sales all year. It was a perfect storm for bad decisions!

This was WAY back in the day. I want to say NV, WY, MT, and CO were the last to raise the ages back in the 80s-90s and UT was one of the first so there were a couple of years of 18 year olds doing beer an booze runs across state lines

Yeah, it’s hard to remember how much of different time the 70s & 80s were. No seatbelts, full service gas stations & their leaded gas, four distinct seasons of weather
