To put it simply the actual realities of game development don't usually mesh well with the "I want it to happen now!"/armchair management mentality a lot of gamers tend to have. I learned alot from this guy here.

When did gamers turn so unbelievably toxic towards game developers? It's been a problem for years, but it feels like its getting worse.

Playfab, a service used by thousands of games, had a partial outage today. And that has lead to incredibly awful response by gamers. Its so sad and depressing.

It's horrible that this happend. However at the same time game developers should also ask themselves why they are getting negative reactions to begin with. To be clear this is NOT an excuse. But sometimes these negative reactions are being used as a smoke screen for something the developers caused

Usually it falls to the community managers to deal with the fallout since they basically are the heatshield between the community and the actual devs. Unfortunately even the managers are often ill prepared to deal with the overly self entitled attitudes common in the internet gaming community

True, but in many cases, it starts with the wrong expectations that are set. They are not being honest with the gamers in terms of what they are actually creating, and what their roadblocks are they are in many cases acting like we are stupid.

Which is quite ironic if you think about it. Gamers being toxic is achieving the opposite of what they want. That there is attention for the problems they are seeing in the games they love.
