It's been a wild and crazy 2023 with the Spoutible startup. Those of us who've been here since the beginning lived thru the highlights and the not-do-great incidents associated with the platform, Here's my version of a 2023 Spoutible Year-in-Review.

A core philosophy of Spoutible is to only use quality resources when posting any info on the platform. Wikipedia is a quality source. According to the Internet, Spoutible started on February 1, 2023. February 1st is a special date. Do you remember why the day is special?

Ppl joining Spoutible were called "1st wavers". We were the 1st to jump off the Twitter 2.0 diving board into the big blue social media sea that Spoutible offered. We also called ourselves whalers, spouters, and whale babies as we coalesced together in our new home. Were you a 1st waver too?

On almost the 2nd day that Spoutible opened its doors for business, the platform came under attack from explicit sex writers from Romancelandia. "Our books are blocked from view by the puritans of Spoutible!" was their refrain. "Show your coochie somewhere else." was spouters response.

The next attack on Spoutible came from this person who called himself, "Nate the Lawyer". He and a group of 8 tweeters spent months harassing Christopher Bouzy in order to "save the clueless people joing Spoutible". Bouzy won court case against Nate. Nate hasn't been heard from since.

While Christopher Bouzy and the Spoutible developrs came under extreme attacks when the platform began, the team managed to stay focused and released an app not far behind the desktop version. A 2bd wave of people joined when I the app was in the Google and Apple stores.

One of the 1st notable tweeters to join Spoutible was this actress. She was a vocal advocate that encouraged other "blue checks" from Twitter to join. She was followed by Morgan Fairchild, Valerie Bertinelli, and Jason Alexander. Please support her in her acting endeavors.

Another 1st VIP tweeter was this person who is a well-known politician. Although he's encouraged others to join, only new candidates to the election cycle have made it here thus far. It would be awesome if someone started a 2024 pod series where spouters could ask qs of these future officials.

Another cornerstone to Spoutible is the concept of transparency. Transparency of the platforms' progress, design, and decision-making were major features with which Twitter and other SM platforms, like Facebook, struggled. Bouzy made sure this wasn't an issue when Spoutible began.

As Spoutible got through its 1st couple of months as a Twitter alternative, the attacks against the platform changed. The anti-Spoutible crowd suddenly became a group of white women claiming that Bouzy was sexually harassing them in response to their privacy concerns. This "lady" led the attack.

Numerous users...WOMEN and men...came to Christopher Bouzy's defense against the sexual harassment accusations directed at Spoutible's CEO. The white women attackers on Twitter claimed Spoutible was a hateful place. "Stop your false race-based accusations!" tweets flooded their Twitter feeds.

Still as the chaos around Spoutible's start continued, there were spouters who developed great marketing tools to help tweeters decide whether or not to join the platform. This chart was created by a spouter and is the basis of the current charts that Bouzy distributes on a regular basis. TY, Brynn!

There was one verified mistake that Spoutible made in its early days. A data breach occurred with the platform. Approximately 25,000 user email addresses were leaked to the web. Bouzy apologized and immediately corrected the problem. I don't know of any spouter who had their ID stolen as a result.

The 1st sign Spoutible was a viable threat to Twitter/X was when Bot Sentinel was blocked from access to Twitter/X data. A bot rating of every spouter was the third cornerstone of the new SM platform. Elon Musk shut down the Twitter access. Musk wouldn't have done this act if he wasn't worried.

The 2nd sign that Spoutible was a viable Twitter alternative was the creation of a Bouzy parody account on Twitter/X. It's a well-understood industry truism that parody accounts are made when a tech CEO is recognized as being a major player. Bouzy is the 1st Black SM founder to receive this honor.

As Spoutible grew and more features were added, spouters were encouraged to become creative in the content they made for the platform. A Canadian spouter started what's become a platform gem. Spouting Classics has several music stations and themes during the week. TY to Mike and all our DJs! 🫶🏾

Spoutible has also proven to be a place for sensible yet radical activism. When Ron DeSanti and other US leaders began banning books across the nation, spouters formed the Banned Book Club. The club gives Spoutible a unique flare. Need books to read for 2024? Join the club.

Spoutible users are unique in many ways. They not only are creative, but they're compassionate when a fellow spouter has personal challenge or tragedy and reaches out for support/help. This aspect of Spoutible is something I hope we never lose as we continue to grow. Please remain ready to help.

Something Spoutible users might want to consider for 2024 is how to make the platform more international. Outsiders complain that the platform is too US-centric or too focused on the Sussex Squad. I thank these two groups of users for getting us started. Let's help other groups grow here too.

Spoutible has had so many opportunities for its users to help make decisions about the direction of the platform. There was a Spoutible Logo Challenge and a Thread Challenge. Users won prizes and got to make history. Hopefully, these types of "wisdom of the crowd" activities will continue in 2024.

Perhaps the last history-making notoriety of Spoutible in 2023 is demonstrated thru its equity investment program. Platform users got 1st dibs on being the Round A funders of the platform. Almost $500K was raised, a remarkable testimony to the faith and trust Spoutible users have in the company.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the thousands of ex-pat Twitter users who took the plunge and joined Spoutible. The startup platform would've failed if it wasn't for the users who did everything in their power to promote what's going on here w/tweets, blogs, news articles, mktg materials, etc.

In closing, 2023 was an incredible yr for Spoutible. We've this man to thank. Without Christopher Bouzy steadfast determination to not let Twitter/X win at abusing users and to show the tech industry what is possible with decency, sincerity, competency, and truth, where would we be? See you in 2024!
