Texas can say that, but I believe that law must be followed in order for facilities to get Medicare and Medicaid funds. Letting a pregnant person die from sepsis or bleed out from an ectopic would be a clear violation along with every docto'rs oath ever. Not to mention the press coverage.

During the pandemic hospital personnel wouldn’t even wear masks here (Texas) because it wasn’t mandated, so women will die here because of this ruling. Their oath means nothing unless they lose their job or license. They won’t, so they will stand by and “do harm”.

Yes, but Republicans will see facilities losing Medicare and Medicaid funding as a bonus, because they're evil murderous monsters, and health care professionals who go against Texas' abortion law could end up waiting in jail while it works through the courts, even assuming SCOTUS rules their favour.

Exactly. Funding freezes won't stop them. Imagine what a mess that'd create, and they'd blame it on democrats. .
