Over Christmas I visited the USA for the first time in 2 years (I’ve been living outside for 7 years) and wow. Things are not great there. Lots of homeless people, roads are terrible, and shopping for basic goods is an experience.

Went to Target to buy some clothes and such as my luggage was lost.

I expected the razor blades to be locked locked up, but I had to find an employee to unlock the cabinets for the underwear and socks. The place felt like a surreal bank. Economy isn’t great when people have to steal underwear.

Went to the grocery to buy baby formula. Locked up and I had to be escorted to the cashier to pay for it immediately. God forbid, someone might steal the formula and do something like feed their baby.

I travel outside the US frequently and it's very rare to see tent communities and people sleeping on sidewalks in other major/powerful countries.

For a people who are supposed to be "Christian," there is very little compassion here.

Last time I was in Singapore the cabbie kept asking me if the homeless and tent cities in the USA were real and why we don’t take care of them.
