For my non-Australian followers, with an interest in women's rights.

This woman was our Prime Minister 10 years ago, and treated terribly (by the usual suspects) because of her gender.

The speech she gave was impressive, and well worth a watch, regardless of where in the world you are.

I am Australian - Julia Gillard was subject to one of the most blatant and worst demonstrations of misogyny in the public arena. Although she handled it with style, professionalism, intelligence and power, does not make it OK.

The Australian "public arena" is more like the Colosseum for many women. I'm in Newcastle (NSW) and we're going to say Grace Tame at our writers festival. Can't wait. She's amazing.
