I was able to get an IBM Selectric II typewriter (with the built-in correcting ribbon!) by my Sophomore year of College.
Life-changing!

When the Selectric tyoewriters came out in offices I was overjoyed. It sped up my work output with no carriage return and easy to push buttons. No more clunky manual machines.
We took typing tests & my speed had increased to about 100 wpm.
It released my typing beast! Lol
