That’s sad . My mother was a feminist who told me I could achieve anything and she showed me by example . She had a better paying ,executive, job than my father when I was a teenager and he was proud of her .

What a great dynamic for your growth! My mother was badly conflicted. She resented the housewife role and repeatedly said "being a mother is the most thankless job in the world." But she said the stuff about standing down, so the worst of both😏. We "grow up in spite of our parents."= the take-away

My mum loved being a mother and she was great at that too she taught us all to read and write before we went to school , played with us endlessly encouraged us to dream big . She didn’t go to work until we were all in school. I was really lucky.
