Who’s on the list of up and coming? Just seems like there is 80 year old guy, Kamala because she’s the VP now, and then…….

think it’s likely to be someone new who’s not necessarily on our radar yet, maybe from outside politics. in 14’ no one expected trump & in 04’ no one outside IL knew who obama was. the only person currently on the radar who really fits that mold is mark cuban, but suspect others will come along

it almost has to be someone new with a maverick outsider “blank slate” image who doesn’t carry political baggage & who ppl can freely project their aspirations onto tho to capture that kind of lightning in a bottle & upend the paradigm. a conventional pol isn’t really capable of that

so probably someone like mark cuban, who’s well versed politically & has leadership/executive experience but is seen as a political outsider with a broad based following & the potential to dramatically expand the electorate & redefine/reinvigorate the party. someone from business or media possibly

Good points. Upending the paradigm seems to be what is needed but doing it in the right direction is the question. I get worried when people start saying the government should run like a business. Mostly I dispair at the lack of leadership. Being a ‘business man’ doesn’t make you a good leader.

u quite literally can’t run the govt like a biz. it wouldn’t work, can never work & even if it could it’s a horrible idea that would have disastrous consequences. ones an open system & another a closed one, they don’t work the same way… and that’s coming from a founder who is a “businessman” lol

Exactly, but many Americans have the impression that they are the same. School lunch for children, it’s not going to improve next quarter’s earnings but it’s a pretty damn good idea.

the area where political “outsider” candidates from the biz world do have a potential advantage tho (if they exploit it correctly) is by running on knowing how to produce “success” for the nation in general, seizing new opportunities & shaping new innovative ideas & “common sense” solutions, etc.

they possess the inherent ability to run against the system and all it’s antiquated features and flaws, as an antidote, in a way politicians just don’t. they have the ability to simultaneously tap into voter resentment while also playing into aspirational hopes, which traditional pols don’t.
