Attention men:

The problem is us. The problem is that we've been reared in and by a society that has taught men (particularly white cishet ones) to center themselves and view everyone else as "too sensitive" to our humor or ways or whatever other gaslighting techniques are handy.

The ironic thing is, the most fragile elements of many of these online discussions are the men who instigate problems in the first place.

We have to let it go. There is no cabal of "hyper-sensitive" women here at Spoutible who are just waiting to take issue with something we say.

Instead, there are women who know their worth, won't stand for bullshit, who back each other up in the face of harassment, and who recognize fake apologies. Again, men, we are the problem. Stop doubling and tripling down when called out. Let your ego go and view it as a chance to learn.

The way I think of it is to compare my feelings when I was a kid seeing women identified by their husbands names, “Mrs.Dan Smith”. I hated that and vowed to use Ms. instead. I think today’s young people are more intune with their feelings about gender, appropriately, and should be encouraged.

Yes! I remember asking my mom why she signed her checks Mrs. W. F. Cody. I also remember that the account was Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Cody. Her name was nowhere.
