I took three semesters of advanced calculus in college to get my engineering degree. Had to pass linear differential equations. ("diffie Q" still causes me to shiver from the memory).

However, 6x7 and 6x8 are blanks in the multiplication table in my head. Really. To this day, 6x7 requires I stop,

think, "ok, 3x7 = 21 and then x2 = 42." Likewise, 6x8 is, "3x8 = 24 and then x2 = 48."

I can't get those two numbers to absorb. I've used heavy math constantly in my career over decades.

Isn't it weird? Anybody else have a math blind spot they just can't fix?

Math was my best/favorite subject k-12. Took one year of college calculus. I have always had problems with all the high 7s (except for 7x7): 6x7, 7x8, 7x9.

There are people who study this phenomenon. This study found 6x8 to be the most difficult in the group of kids they studied. https://www.theguardian.co...
