Social Media Can Solve Climate Change If we use it to globalize local environmental actions. The UN climate conferences were ineffective. President Biden made the single largest climate investment in U.S. history, half the Republicans reject climate change. Read the thread to see how we can do it.

We are a media savvy culture; especially amongst activists. While much of their on-line activity is "entertainment", there is no reason it could not be used to respond to an existential threat like climate change.

There is one group which has the talent, knowledge & ability to begin a global climate revolution capable of moving the needle: local environmental organizations. They are working on GHG reduction measures. However all of these local measures cannot impact/stop climate change, a global problem.

Using social media, "all" the local groups would have to do is take what they are doing and pass it on, on-line to other local groups doing the same kind of local GHG activities nationally and then internationally. If coordinated, they would be forming coalitions of great power and reach.

I am aware local groups have full plates & have heard the refrain they do not "have the bandwidth" to globalize their actions. Climate scientists issued a code red for humanity. Global climate change is a game changer requiring a globalized response. If not local groups, whose going to do it?

The army of environmentalists that exists worldwide needs leadership. Local environmental organizations can provide the leadership. They know the issues, and know how to advocate them. They are supported by people, who in turn are "voters".
