Among the best reasons not to make large amounts of stock/shares part of remuneration is that makes the people who are supposed to care for the company and employees the biggest shithead to the company & employees if it'll raise the share price.

Quick comment on this - there’s an assumption here that if options weren’t part of management C&B packages, that management teams would be more sympathetic to the concerns of their workers. Having lived in that world for many years, I’d have to respectfully disagree.

In reality and under law, public companies are obligated to no one but their shareholders. Their 1st and never to be compromised priority is the strength of their share price. Their critical decisions - including those that impact the welfare of the workforce, are driven by that priority.

I’ pretty confident that if options weren’t included in Management C&B packages, it would make little difference with regard to workforce policy.
