It is very expensive to be poor.

—- Can't pay to clean your teeth?
Next year, pay for a root canal.
— Can't pay for a new mattress?
Next year, pay for back surgery.
— Can't pay to get that lump checked out?
Next year, pay for stage 3 cancer.

Poverty changes interest. Sadly! 😞

We see this in the Emergency Department. People that deferred care until forced to come in. Other factors include no paid sick leave which makes going to a doctor's appointment difficult. Having to use public transportation often makes it an hours long ordeal.

And can we talk about this pieced-out pay schedule system? Only receiving small amounts at a time prevents someone from taking advantage of bulk deals and makes it harder to actually save up. Getting a lump sum once a month allows a very different approach to financial decisions...

Still true sadly. I have a terminal illness, and all I'm looking at is cheapest options. That's messed up.
