In today’s wordle I used “tains” as a guess. Wordle (unexpectedly) recognized it as a word. Does anyone know what this word means? It doesn’t come up on the online mirriam Webster. #wordle #955

-tain-, root. -tain- comes from French and ultimately from Latin, where it has the meaning "hold. '' It is related to the root -ten-. This meaning is found in such words as: abstain, attain, contain, detain, entertain, maintain, obtain, pertain, rein, retain, retinue, sustain.
