Texas: There has to be a better way to build houses than to have to drip faucets when it is freezing to keep our pipes from bursting. We're in a state where there are persistent droughts and our answer to freezing weather is to drip faucets?

Canadian here. Never come across the concept of dripping faucets. Currently -14C (about 9 in the strange system that you use) and the thought of frozen pipes never occurs to me. Clearly you need decent building codes

We run our plumbing through the walls and ceiling rather than the ground. In a hot climate it tends to work ~most~ of the time.
