I am sure Julia Child made her own stock but I’m using canned stock so I’ve had it on the stove simmering with onion, celery, carrot, white wine, sage, bay leaf and peppercorns. It will taste more home made I hope 😬😂

I’m going to slice the onions now. I have white, yellow and red onions. They will take maybe 45 minutes to cook and I will need to stay with them so they don’t burn. Julia Child cooked them in butter & olive oil with a little salt & sugar so that’s what I’m gonna do 😁

So the recipe said around 45 minutes to cook the onions. Took me 1 hour 20 minutes. But whatevs 😂
They are basically candy at the end 😌😋

I added flour to the onions and cooked for around 10 minutes. Then added some of the stock and cooked a few minutes more. Then added the rest plus more wine & cognac.
Now it simmers ☺️

While the soup simmers I had oven preheated and put in slices of french bread for croutons then turned oven off.

I did it! It doesn’t look as good as the recipe pic but it tastes delicious. Too hot so I can’t eat it yet. It’s torture 😅

My favourite soup, although I’ve never tried making it myself. Bookmarked 😋
