What’s weird is so many of those people don’t seem to realize what all these kids have seen on their phones. Even if they have parental controls switched on, on the kids have seen stuff on their friends’ phones. Most kids have seen hard-core porn before high school now.

It's not even that. Esperanza doesn't observe or describe any graphic scenes in any detail, most of what is in the book are the outward signs of sinister things that anyone sees but many choose to dismiss.
